Michael, are you suggesting Australia kept the good rules and ditched the bad ones?  Wish I'd known how strict the speed cameras were. I've received a nice letter from QLD police with a picture of the car I hired in July apparently doing 91km/h in an 80 zone.  AND, the Hire Co charged me 50 dollars for the privilege of passing my details to the police.  PM me if you have any good ideas about how do handle speeding fines from using a hired car.

Hell No. What happens is.... England creates some new dumbass law (seeing as all political parties are really corporations, these Laws are actually Corporate Policy they have another corporation called Police enforce), tries it out for a bit, then Australia follows suit. Baaaa baaaa.

Qld is one of the most Police State states in the country - if you go by the Powers granted to police et al, not by the observed and reported actions. Most Queenslanders do not know the Qld Police can enter their home without a warrant, nor need the good old Probable Cause reason. That the same police can enter any Abo Community home to confiscate booze. And in the news the other day... the Hitler-esq state leader, Evil Anna Bligh, wants to grant the power that if you do not pay your parking fine or whatnot, your driving license will be revoked! There is also something called Anti Hooning legislation, which sounds good right, but allows police to confiscate your car if you are caught driving with a revoked license. She already made it compulsory for ALL people with electricity accounts to pay an Ambulance Fee. Refuse to pay the money for the Ambulance fund and your electricity will be turned off! This is the same state that was going to Fine Robbie Williams for having a cigarette during his concert, because the Football Stadium he performed in was deemed a Non Smoking location!

You wanna Fight a Speed Camera fine... it will cost you more time and money than the cost of the fine. I am not sure if anything will be added to a List to Alert Customs if you should come back into the country if you don't pay.

Having said that... WHERE did the supposed offence take place? What street? Did you get a copy of the photo? If you want to continue, I suggest PM, fair enough?

[EDIT] Crap you beat me to it...

Here is the image anyway

Now to find a crane

Only 10 minutes in it. I took mine this morning on the way to work so took a chance noone would put one up before I got home.

When you find your crane, remember to take a ball cap with you and put it on your mirror before taking the photo.  ;)

CRAP.  I just recently rode by a crane thinking, "wow... that's the first one I've ever seen around here."

Now I can't remember where I saw it.

Riding in this town is an exercise in immense amounts of patience. It's more frustrating than anything.

And no bicycles? My cardiovascular health and thighs of steel would beg to differ...

Believe me, I'd like to. I just don't really have all that much time. Between school, work, research, homework, etc, finding time to hop on the motorcycle is few and far between. Coupled with the fact that there are barely any good roads in this city makes it a losing endeavor.

Bump

Your bike with a ballcap on one mirror in front of a mechanical lifting crane

Crane can be sitting in a crane yard for the day, on a construction site either set up to lift or not, or a tower crane. NO Lorry Loaders or HIABS.

One day left on current challenge...

Current challenge is Your bike with a ballcap on one mirror in front of a mechanical lifting crane

Crane can be sitting/parked up in a crane yard for the day, on a construction site either set up to lift or not, or a tower crane. No Lorry Loaders or HIABS.

I know that it can be hard to get Close to a tower crane as they are attached to tall buildings. So you can be a little distance away. Just as long as the crane can be seen in the image. The easiest place to find a mobile crane is in the crane company's yard, parked up for the night.

If no-one gets it, I'll get it tomorrow and issue a new challenge...

36 hours and counting...

Typical... I could do this one but haven't been able to get out on the bike due to school holidays.  Taken the opportunity to get some maintenance done so bike will be out of action for another week or two.  Won't be able to notch up another score for a wee while.

Does it count as a score if you have to complete your own challenge?!!

I'd say it does as... a challenge completed is a challenge completed. The person completing the challenge still has to do all the same things to complete it no matter who posted the challenge. They still need to ride to it. Like I did today... I rode to where there is a tower crane set up - I could see it but didn't know how to get close to it so that took a while - parked the bike, got off and took a photo with a ball cap on the mirror. But, I will sit on this image until the time is up in case someone else gets it. Unless, of course, people want the new challenge now  :icon_mrgreen:

Ok ok....

A tower crane set up in a yard that supplies tower crane parts. Trucks comes in, this crane finds the necessary bits, picks it up and loads it onto the truck. I had to drive down a nearby roadworks access road to get it. As it had been raining they'd all gone home.

Next challenge: Your bike with a picket fence.

Rain... yeah. Monday we had rain later in the day and into the night. As I would be working until 7.30pm I drove to work instead. Tuesday they forceast rain but it was just dark teasing clouds. Wednesday I checked the bureau of Meterology's website http://www.bom.gov.au/. Radar was clear. Forecast was fine. This was at 4.00am. I rode to work. At 11.00am down she came. Not all over town. No, a small area wide in a long line. I happened to be working under it. Worked got called off a few hours later as it was still raining. I'm thinking... great, now I ride home in the wet. But by the time we packed up and I got back to the bike it had started to clear. Roads were still a tad wet while I rode to get this. Otherwise, the ride home was just overcast.

Today's forecast is... a shower or two. But at 4.25am as it is now, the radar is clear. So I'll ride in. And as it's a picket fence and those things are everywhere (everywhere up here anyway), someone should be able to get it  :icon_mrgreen:
