I believe that hose you just put the breather cover on but it is hard to see from that picture.  I am sure someone else will confirm or correct me.

Is it the hose that used to go from the top of the engine to the air box? (can't see the picture as I'm at work) Mine just has a mini air filter on the end where the airbox used to connect. You should be able to grab a random one at any kind of pepboys store.

i'll get a better pic and post this evening after i get off work... there is a "T" connector that looks like it goes into the bottom of the carbs and this hose ran from it to the top of the air box.

It's just a vent.  Put it where ever you want.  Or take the hose off, turn the T down.

Oh, yeah, my hose runs about 6 inches and then just stops in the middle of no where.

It may not be all that impressive, but I hardly think it's anything worth concerning a doctor with.

Is the 6 inch one really thick and attached to a thin metal rectangular case on top of the engine? if so, then that is your breather hose that used to fit into the port on the front of your air box. the hose circuled in your picture is NOT the breather from the engine to box, the one circled is a drain off hose if your carbs overflow. (maybe the needle gets stuck open, the floats mess up, anything that would allow fuel to just keep entering the carbs, that hose is for drain off and should be routed to the bottom ride side of the engine along with a bunch of other hoses down there. (at least on my 97 they all route to bottom right side.) doesnt really matter as long as it ends under the bike, cause you dont want gas pourin all over your bike.

ok.. better pics are here..

this is the hose i've been referring to....

and since we're on the subject.... this one used to be attached to the bottom of the airbox

yep, thats the carb overflow drain hose. run that to the bottom of the bike so if you ever have a bad carb problem, it doesnt soak your engine.
