Why no transmission rebuilds?

All of the engine rebuilds I see on gstwins are top only. They never tear apart the tranny? Is that because it's just easier/cheaper to buy a used engine?

Have you heard of a GS with a bad tranny ...
Almost never ... and yea its cheaper to get used motor or hell a used bike ...
Bearings die ... neglect, lack of oil whatever ... tranny only has 2 at each end, so its not a biggie. Of course slipping = bad shift forks or bad dogs or what not and on a GS its unheard of.
Cool.

the kids that ride gs's don't know what a good transmission feels like, so they slosh through the gs's for 50-60,000 miles, then get tired of riding ;)
