Any ideas of a 1994 zzr6 motor fiting in the gs? A buddy just got one for almost free, $150, insurance write off, dude ran it in a pond. he's going to give me the whole thing. I know im going to use the front end, just wanting to fit that 70+ hp motor in there. the motors been  worked and run since the swimming trip.

Are you not content with the 38 horsepower you already have?

Try dropping down to 4 Oreos and set your pilot screw 3 turns out.

Im content. Just could be  street legal, faster, and different. Not that my bike is stock to say the least. Im sure i can alter the frame however I need, ive been wanting to do a RZ350/Banshee smoker in it but that costs $ and this will pay for itself for the front end alone. He's put new tires on it so i might check out the swingarm swap too. It runs/rolls fine, he was reading it for racing but doesn't have cash, not to mention a track close by.

could be street legal? its not now, but a bigger engine will make legal? :cookoo:

No, its street legal now. Bigger engine in a smaller cc older bike = the same insurance rate with the advantages more power and no emissions inspection, just safety inspection(lights, signals, horn, tires)

O got these GS500 stickers. Paste them on the ZZR ...

Anyway, if I remember its a hanger. You'd need to hack off teh downtubes and make a hanger. I know one guy (in charlotte actually) that made a hanger out of a GR motor, bored to 851CC and put it in a GS frame he made a hanger fitting and welded up.

If its even a bit wider than the GS frame where you ahve to hang it, it wont fit that way. In fact it has to be narrower than the inside width of teh GS frame and not much narrower (which is unlikely IMHO).

Cool.

I can't imagine the insurance on a 94 zzr600 is all that different from a gs500. It's only 100cc and should be in the same class of bikes, but I don't really know.

How strong is the GS frame? Would it even be able to support a hanger? To feel comfortable with it, I'd want to have someone re-weld the GS frame so at least those lower frame rails were under the engine to brace it and support the main frame. It sounds like a good project, but only to do it as a project for the learning experience. I wouldn't do it with too much hope of it actually working out well.

I'd browse ebay and forums and see if you can find an early 90s gsxr600/750 motor for cheap. Even if it was a motor like that which was mounted the same way, you'd still have tough luck getting the airbox/filter and carbs on there with the way the GS frame is shaped.

I say just keep the zzr as it is and have 2 bikes. Opposite of what you're trying to accomplish with the insurance, but what's an extra $150 a year in liability insurance if you've got 2 bikes??
