I noticed a tear in the t-fitting of the vent hose on the carburetors:

First, what is the purpose of having a vent hose coming off the carbs? Given that this is a vent hose, it doesn't seem like my tear would have any impact on the operation of the carbs. Am I right?

Did you notice any issues? I would just use some sealant and roll with it since its not a vacuum or gas line.

No I haven't. I do have issues at idle but I suspect it's not due to this tear but as a result of the pilot jet being too small. 
I think putting some sealant on is a good suggestion, which I'll be doing. Exactly what kind of sealant would I use? Thanks!

thats just the fuel overflow hose, no need to patch it in my opinion, if you have fuel overflowing out of that hose, you have other problems....

like you probably would have to crash and have your bike lying upside down for fuel to start draining out of there

i would put some rtv sealant on it while you have it out, but it's not really a big deal
