Brake lever compatibility

I'm cleaning up a 1995 GS500E that I picked up this week, and need some replacement levers. The parts unlimited catalog has a clutch lever listed for $5 in black but had no brake lever fitment listed.

I've searched eBay and only found oem brake levers in silver and of course the Carbon Fiber look lever sets. I'd rather not have to powder the silver brake lever to match if I can avoid it.

Does anyone know another make/model/year brake lever that matches the 95GS500E?

Thanks,

Nate

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the original '89 GS had black levers.  If so, they will be more expensive than aftermarket and the brake lever was not adjustable in that year.

Could you offer some suggested search terms? I've searched the forums and have found mostly references to the eBay Carbon Fiber levers.

Well I'm not really looking for what OEM brake levers fit the GS500E, but what other models share the same brake lever. The parts unlimited generic levers are inexpensive, but don't list a part number for the GS500E.

Using the OEM parts finder on www.cheapcycleparts.com I randomly choose the 1995 model year and looked up the brake lever on a GS500, a RF600, a GSX600FS Katana and a GSX-R750WS and all models used the same part # that year so the brake lever is interchangeable.  Try searching those models in your aftermarket parts source.  Good luck!

I got the black ones and am pretty happy with 'em although I don't really know that the adjustable brake lever makes a difference.

Pretty much every manufacturer uses the same lever.  I was using a black OEM kawasaki EX500 lever on both my 89 and 08 GS masters.  Most ex250s, ex500s and the old zx6 bikes use black levers as OEM.
My 90 GS500E has spread itself across the nation.

You know I sort of figured that was the case, but what threw me for a loop was the lack of a part number in the parts unlimited catalog. I've thrown whatever I could find at a brake lever in the past with old bikes, some did require some grinding to work though.

Thanks all for the help.
