Anyone know where the best / cheapest place to buy carb kits for the GS?

Also, what works best for polishing stainless steel? I need to polish the D&D exhaust back to a nice healthy sheen. I was thinking of getting a 5" disk set from Harbor Freight but not sure if that would harm it (more scratches / swirls marks?) All I have is a 4" electric grinder so I am a bit concerned about marring the finish worse.

Scotchbrite and elbow grease, MHO. Depends on the effect you want. The 6x9 pads and doing by hand work quite well, especially if you get the pads in different grits from a metalwork supplier (enco, msc, mcmaster) rather than try to use the ones made for scrubbing pots and pans. Work up through the grits to get the effect you are after (brushed or polished) and then stop.

Or you could get the very small discs or a round rubber thing and some grit, and go for an engine-turned look. Takes patience and/or machinery. Looks cool.

I think a D&D is aluminum ... stainless is going to freaking break your arm before you get it to look like anything other than its original finish. But aluiminum polishes like butter. Have at it with 400, 1000 and 2000 and fine steel wool or 0000 scotch brite with wd40 as lube. Then polishing with mothers type, rub onn, wait till it goes black and polish.

I love stainless but if its satin, well I like satin ... if shiny, I like shiny that's it.
Cool.
