Jetting questions... I know... it's been done.

I've got an 1989 that I'm going to upgrade to the point where I think I'm gonna be happy.
-GS500R fairing
-Progressive Springs
-Katana 600 shock (if I can find one)

-Aftermarket Exhaust (probably Jardine)
-K&N filter

The question:  With your ultimate wisdom, what is my best jetting option for good performance without killing me on the fuel economy?

-What brand?  Dynojet? Factory?
-Just buy the parts? Instructions on how many twists & turns?

I know I'm going to get it for this question... but due to my ignorance and being unable to find a 100% answer for my situation, I will risk your wrath.

I do appreciate you taking the time to respond.
I broke it... I bought it...

Yea that fairing is what will incur my wrath. Why... oh yes the 500R fairing will only fit a 01+.
Anyway The DIY jetting is IMHO better.
150/1 .5mm thick washer under each needle and 3 turns will leave you close. You laready have the 40's being canadian.
Cool.

Thanks Srinath... I always like the cheap solutions.

I'm just going to put the front on as according to Rich500's thread...

"The rear will not fit the older models, but the front will for sure."

After spending $3000 + on upgrades you are concerned about fuel economy?!?

Sorry for being sarcastic but sometimes I just have to be.

BTW, I replied to your other post with jetting recommendations but I didn't know you were going to put in K&N pods.

Hmmm .. actually you better check that 150's are right .. those should be used with pods not the K&N stock replacement filter.

Srinath?

$3000??? I better not be... the bike only cost me $2000   :)

Fairing - $750 USD
Springs - $47 USD
Shock - not holding my breath
Exhaust - $130 USD
Filter - ?
Shipping - $120 USD

About $1500 CDN in total...  But you make a good point.  Really, I just don't want to spend the money on the exhaust and filter then not have any gains cuz the carbs aren't set up properly.

Ah screw it... give me the power and forget the fuel economy!
I broke it... I bought it...

K&N pods after tossing the air box is 150. K&N in airbox is 127.5. The tail of the GS-R is the prettiest thing IMHO.
Cool.

Lerxst:

Where can you get a Jardine exhaust for $130?

Is that for just the can or complete system?
