Alright, it's colder in the mountains of North Georgia and I'm only riding about once every week and a half, or two. We all know that the GS is a beast when it comes to being moody in cold weather, especially for warm up time. Gotta question though:

* While driving at normal speed my RPM's go from whatever (5000K) to ZERO for a split second and then back to where they should be. Today it sputtered for a split second when it dropped.

* Also, at idle (stoplight) my engine is fine the first few seconds then it cuts off and I crank it right back up. I've adjusted the idle screw and that didn't help it at all. My idle RPM is right around 1200.

Any knowledgeable info would be appreciated!

Same thing happens with me except I'm a little closer to Atlanta than you. I found that I just kinda blip the throttle a few times every time I come to a stop so it doesn't cut off.

sounds like an occasional misfire, since your tach is electrical, and stops indicating when you have this problem, I would guess maybe a loose or corroded electrical connection.  or maybe pickup coil not making good contact.  does it only do it occasionaly, or consistantly, only when motor cold, only when motor warm? lots of variables here we need to know to fully help you

Mine has only happened once the temperatures have dropped and usually only for about the first 10 minutes of riding. However, it will cut off at a stop no matter how long i've been on it.

I doubt it has anything to do with the cold weather, considering both of you guys are in Georgia, where you don't actually get cold weather

I think the temperature just happened to be colder the day it happened. Definitely sounds electrical to me. If it was something to do with the gas/carbs I think it would more of sputter, and not so much just cut out for a second. I know nothing about electrical stuff though, so someone else will have to give you a better answer.

Well it does sputter a little, the rpm's will drop from 1200 or so down to below 1000, then it'll cut off, all taking a few seconds instead of an instant cut off.

charge the battery, check your ground, and there is a relay ner the main fuse that may be questionable.
