Making stock turn signals flash faster?

How would I do this? Do I just replace a relay? :dunno_white: If so, what type?

Did a search but only found stuff for LED's signals. I would convert but not sure if I want to deal with the wiring issues.

putting in LED signals shouldnt take any extra wiring unless you build them yourself.  You could just swap in Buell signals like I did and you get a faster blink.  Why would you want that though?

Joker ... one of the pet peeves I have is the fact that most all aftermarket turnsignals have wiring that is too short to fit into the stock wiring harness plugs without splicing and soldering. Pityful.

Yea 3 inches of extra wire is gonna kill you profit margin ... moron.

GSRookie: So you're trying to get it to flash faster ? why.
If its not flashing at all or acting wonky, get a wagner552 or other electronic relay @ autoparts store.
But not gonna  make it flash faster.
Cool.

Check your local laws first...

In most states its illegal for it to flash too fast.. There is a DOT code for how many flashes per min are allowed :thumb:

That said.. I think a different flasher relay can make them go faster.. I bought the wrong one for my GS once and it worked but flashed too fast to pass inspection.

Very true Buddah I forgot about that. I think I just re-routed my wires so I could just plug them in without splicing.  I forgot to add that I find it annoying that my blinkers blink fast and I feel kinda dumb at stoplights with them going a mile a minute but I havent gotten around to getting a new relay yet lol, I guess it doesnt bother me that much.

I wanna make them flash faster because I'm paranoid of other drivers not seeing me wanting to switch lanes. I would just feel more comfortable like that.

It's like riding with your high beam on in the day time. I do that too.

I also just bought some new turn signals(not LED's) to get rid of the stock ones. Now since I bought smaller ones, they don't seem that bright to me as the stock ones, but I always had that idea of having a faster signal, and they were $30 bucks cheaper then the Buell ones.

That sounds like a car when a bulb goes out and one side starts blinker faster.

Mmm....I wonder if I switch the bulbs in my turn signals to LED's, would it blink faster cause of less resistance or something?

I don't know about the GS but I know my Katana's turn signals do not blink at all in the rear when I have the front fairings with the turn signals removed.

My 1991's  flash slowly and I think it is unsafe as well. Not too mention, the flash doesnt start until AFTER the delay. so turning on your turn signal to make a quick lane change is useless. I will post whatever solution I find.

hmm $30 cheaper huh?  So they paid you to take em then?     Im just busting your balls but if you went to the dealership they probably did cost that much, use ebay for them, heres a link for a set and with shipping it comes out to about $17 a pair.  I know its to late but you may want to look anyway.

Pretty sweet. I wasn't really looking towards the Buell style ones. These are the ones I got:
