I've found a nice full wiring harness on eBay for $10 that fits an '02.  I've got a '93 and the question is, would this fit mine?  The next cheapest I could find was $50 and Bikebandit's new one is $240 so I'm hopin so...

There is a bunch of crap on an 02 like teh advancer and the carb plugs that are not on a 93, and the tach on an 02 is electric isn't it.

In a way 01/02 is the bastard year for a GS.

And parts are worth what the supply demand picture looks like ... if there are new parts made all the time, eventually they will be worth less and less, cos the pool of available stuff is ever increasing, and a 93 harness may be old, but soon enough there will not be any made ... not saying its 50 bucks worth, but dont say new should be cheaper ... not exactly ...

BTW what is worng with yours ... cos I've never seen a wiring harness die ...

 Hm alright, thanks for the info.  Well mine is chocked with corrosion and I'm 95% sure it's the seat of a couple problems (The random lose of 1 cyl Ive posted on several times).  I tried using a CRC corrosion dissolving spray and also cleaning the terminals best I could but that didnt seem to have much effect.  In fact after doing that, I started my bike up the other day and after about 10 secs of idle, quite a bit of smoke was comin from under the seat.  Shut it off n now there's no response at all when I press the Ignition button (lights and everything else work).

So anyway, my plans to just basically replace the harness and maybe a couple other weathered looking electrical parts.  Although I haven't really diagnosed anything at all since the electrical fire it almost had, so I'm not sure what got fried and how yet.

In my build I am adding an '07 harness to my '92 bike.  Mainly this is because I have replaced all controls with newer '07 ones.  Sure they are not 100% compatible but they will work.  Just use what you need to and terminate the stuff you don't.
