How do I do this? I took the two bolts off and noticed that there are 3  hoses  connected underneath ( looks like 2 fuel lines and one vacuumn port. If I disconnect them will it start leaking gas or is it a vacuumn regulated port. Or am I doing this all wrong :dunno_white:

I'm trying to pull the carbs and clean the jets because the guy I bought it from let it sit. I need to get a manual fast!

Thanks! :D

turn the petcock in the gas tank to off then disconnect fuel lines and overflow line off then remove tank.

When he says turn the petcock, make sure you notice there's one on the inside left side of the tank you have to get with a screwdriver, not the one that's mounted on the frame. once you do that you can just pull the lines off. Pry them down with a flat screwdriver from the top, instead of just yanking at them, and lay a towel over the motor and stuff just to catch some of the gas that spills. Look through the wiki, you'll definitely find some pictures somewhere.

yeah, lift tank rear up 3 inches, look under there, petcock is on left side with screwdriver operated valve looking to right, screwdriver goes in from right. While you have it off maybe put on longer hoses to make it easier.

Or, one picture being worth 1000 words, search the forum and you will see pictures.

hence the words petcock IN the tank. and for the record there is no OFF on the frame petcock. :thumb:

That assumes the petcock is in the original way.  If it was removed at one time it may be backwards.  I find it easier to access when it is facing the other way.

Great, thanks for the tips everyone. The tank is kind of full so I will have someone help me. That screw looks a little tuff to get at but do-able.

Ok, I got it. I just pulled the tank back about 3-4" and put a short piece of 2x4 under the back end to raise it up. Got a super long screw driver from Kragen auto , slipped it in from the right side and turned off the petcock. There are four lines on the Ca. model. One on the right side that goes to a cannister then the center one( vent  :dunno_white:) then the two gas lines.

This thing has a lot more hoses and junk than my DR 350.....  :icon_rolleyes:

Thanks again for everyones help!
