Bought it for $3500 with 4k miles with some cosmetic damage to the front and some on the left side from a tip over. It has been sitting so I had to get a new battery for it. Need to do oil change and lube chain asap. Other then the cosmetic work, the motor is strong and suspension feels awesome, new rear tire, original tire in front. Very sensitive throttle, something my GS didn't have, but probably gotta adjust.




Already did an estimate for the front cowl, lens, fender, and probably the cowl support, which is about $300 used stuff. This damage was caused by someone pulling into the driveway with a truck. I checked the forks real good for straighteness and test drove it before buying, no wobbles, steering or rebound issues.

congrats on the new ride, and take it easy on 2nd gear, it's a costly fix !

I read something about the older(99-02) transmissions being poorly designed, but I thought they fix it the next year in 03

Also known as 'horsepower'. The only thing that needs adjusted is your wrist. Have fun!

Yeah, the older ones were known for transmission problems, but you should be perfectly fine on that bike.

Took a CB600 Hornet S for a spin earlier in the week. Couldn't wait to get back on the GS. Just Felt better on the GS - for my body mechanics (and on the ears and heat wise).

Of course, an R6 ain't a CB600 Hornet S.

I like those CB600 Hornets. love the street fighter look. I was about to buy a naked sv650 but the lowest I was finding was $3500, so I figured why not go for an R6 if I'm gonna spend the same amount 

Congratulations on your new bike.  That's a very good find.  Nice job. 

Love the R6 (especially those years).

A little elbow grease and you'll be able to fix the cosmetic damage (and get a custom paint scheme to boot) pretty easily (and cheaply).  Make sure you get some frame sliders on too!

I understand the progression, but why pay for less when you can have more for the buck.

Also, there's too many gsxer's around hear in socal, I wanted something different. I was gonna get a cbr600 but my bro already has one, so I wanted something different. I always wanted an R6 since I started riding.

The transmission problems came up when they first came out with the R6(99-02), those problems are long gone now(I think) and redisigned for the 03 and up bikes. That's what I read and that's why I went with an 05. The 05's are the better r6s's they still produce, but heard they cheaped out a little on the suspension and power for the new r6s.

Good move. You will love it. Its a perfect bullet bike.

My next bike, not sure yet, VFR or V-strom, at 4,000 either way, with mods already done.   I want 1-2 more summers on my last -season GS then it goes to rear wall for guests.

I'm gonna keep it around in case Heather shows any interest in bikes again so my next bike can be a 1 seater if I find a good one. 
I'd save it to let friends learn to ride, or juts come ride with me, but I Just put a brand new tank on it and I don't want them destroying it, haha.
