Anybody have comments on the "Laminar Lip" or other wind screen? Would like to get something a bit taller. The "Lip seems to get good reviews! I guess I have to drill holes in the stock one to put the LIP on :dunno_white:

Thanks!

Read the reviews. You glue or Velcro it on.

Hi, i just put a laminar lip on my plexistar windshield.

The concept works.  It's smoothed out the flow of air around the shield and pushed it about 4 inches higher off my visor.

I've read good things about it's effect on the gs500f screen when I was doing my research.

It sticks on with a 3m product that's pre fixed to the lip.  I've had no problems with it holding over the last 6 weeks or so of commuting.

I tried a Laminar Lip on the stock 07 GS500F screen.  Easy to install, though you do have to be carefull to keep it straight.  It attached with 3M locks similar to heavy Velcro.
The lip worked as advertised.  For me it created a loud roaring noise above 45 mph. :dunno_black:  I think this had to do with rider position, height, etc.  I also have bar back installed so I sit quite upright.  The product is good and the company is great to work with.

Has anyone tried the Zero Gravity touring screen?  I am considering that next.

I was wondering about the Zero Gravity myself. Do they make the touring one for the GS 500? I didn't see it as a choice on their site. Be nice to get some feedback. I think the price is about the same as the "LIP"

Laminar lip is good but if you are tall its not so perfect. It smacks you harder in fact with it than without, you get turbulence in face. If you are short you would be riding along in the bubble it creates.

It does not fall off.

Here's a pic of one of our member's GSF with the Zero Gravity touring shield:

As a matter of fact. . .
I came across this thread while searching for a cure to a problem I am having with my Zero Gravity Touring windscreen.

Some good points. . .
1.) The light smoke color ZG Touring windscreen looks fantastic on my silver/black 2007 GS500F. It's a perfect fit!
2.) It will effectively raise the air-blast point up at least 12 inches from stock.
3.) I recently went through NJ motor vehicle inspection with the non-DOT-approved windscreen with no problems.

Now for the problem. . .
I like the ZG Touring screen a lot however, at speeds in excess of 50 MPH, it puts the wind blast right at my throat. After about half an hour of riding at 70 MPH the constant buffeting on your neck can go from uncomfortable to actually painful. I really don't want to go back to the stock windscreen but this punch in the throat situation is unacceptable. Unlike my Yamaha, I cant seem to tuck under the wind blast very well at all.

I was thinking of a "Laminar Lip" but their web site specifically says "don't even ask" about what fits. At 85 bucks a pop, it could get mighty expensive if I have to try two or three units to get a proper fit.
(if I can even find a good fit/cure at all). :dunno_black:

Advice? Suggestions? Opinions?
Thanks,

However their site does say that a Bandit 1200 with a ZG touring screen is a "known fit"

Mine works fine with the tabs. Should I drill it anyway?

I made one for riding my last bike in winter and it worked great. It was my triumph which just had that little flyscreen, so I went from practically no protection to having a nice little pocket to tuck under. I had picked up a spare R1 windscreen in the clearance bin at the local dealership, cut it, and just bolted it on with some plastic washers to angle it up. It was a much cheaper alternative to how much they wanted.

I pulled the trigger on a Laminar Small Universal LIP (aka 10" Universal).
I have to create a starting point to work from, so after carefully looking at all the Laminar products, I went with the 10" universal.
If there were dimensional (mechanical) drawings on their web site I would at least have had a chance (in stead of a blind guess).

I'll post some pictures of this fitment experiment soon as the LIP arrives.
And Paulcet, if the 10" universal doesn't work out, one of those Bandit units you suggested will be my next shot. Thanks for the advice on that.

Gee, just think of how easy this would be if there were some simple dimensional drawings on their site to reference.
Thanks for the posts.
