Good idea when fitting a fuel filter

I have just added this comment to my Gremlins thread and thought may be best to put this in a thread of its own.

When fitting the fuel filter between the carbs and fuel petcock my mechanic installed the transparent fuel filter so it was below the floats of the carbs.  This has the following benefits:
1. If there is water in the system it will tend to sit at the lowest point.  With this now been the fuel filter you can easily see if you have water in the fuel supply.
2. This position keeps the filter well away from the engine - no potentially brown pant incidents
3. The fuel filter can easily be inspected for water and dirt/contaminents.

Just wish it was my idea

Keep it upright
