I was wanting some advice on buying a gs 500f.  They local salvage bike deal has a 2006 GS 500F for sale.  IT does have a salvage title and what looks be be only fairing damage.  I would change the bike over to naked anyways.  Hes asking $2,500, i know that is high.  Does anyone else have a salvage title bike on here?  I  just wondering it if it would be a pain in the neck to insure.  I know it would not sell for crap if i want to sell it. Here is a link to the bike.  http://quicktimesales.autorevo.com/webtemplate.aspx?iid=2439768 .

yeah, $2500 is way high for a salvage titled bike.     I'd look at an older E model,  you can pick up a clean titled one all day with around 11k miles for 2500.

in some states, I dont think you could even put more than liability coverage on a salvage titled bike, but it varies by state and insurer.

Yeah, I've got a salvage bike title.  I was sick of the round about bs with getting a title for my gs so I bought a cheap one off Ebay with a title.  If I ever sell it I'll prolly buy a clean titled frame.  Anyways, the big thing is that it was salvaged for a reason.  You are presumably going to have to fix that reason.  KEEP ALL YOUR RECEIPTS!!!  The cops or DMV may wanna see them.  Cops will do an inspection to make sure its road legal.  Check your state laws to see whats required and make sure all that works.  And yes, $2,500 is waaay too much!

Wow..no. That's ripoff territory. I got a salvaged Honda 750-4 for $400 bucks. That's just crazy. I paid 2900 for my 07 f with 8500 miles and a clean title.

I's bought it for's my daddy!  He wouldn't shut the f*** up about wanting a new bike so I pulled that pile outta a barn, took it home, hit it with a sawzall and slapped a cbr tank and tail and subframe on it.  Looks stupid.  He looks like a 54 yr old hard on now, strutting around.  Lol, that is if a hard on could look like Chuck effing Norris!  God my dads awesome!
