The great weather is here and I finally got my bike back on the road. Will go for another ride tomorrow to ease myself back into things...but if any local GStwin people wanna meet up for rides, just post and PM me your info. I'm Manhattan's East Village. Also have a sweet roofdeck for a GStwin Summer BBQ should there be demand.

I plan to do a lot of riding all summer.  :D

sclegend

going riding on sunday if anyone's interested! :D no plans yet.

sclegend

if weather is good, will go riding again this weekend (May 9th or 10th)...preferable 9th to avoid mother's day.

hey sclegend where do you usually ride for pleasure? almost all my riding is commuting.
have you had any problems with the police lately? my friend and i both got tickets recently from cops that were obviously targeting bikers and we are in no way reckless riders. not even close.

i've done 9w to bear mountain and down 9 (basically both sides of the hudson). also, out to long island. i once rode to the finger lakes years ago...it took a while but was awesome.

I'm down in NJ Hamilton area but would love to come up north and just ride. Any trips planned in the near future?

Where do you guys go in LI?

Also, what do cops stop you for in NYC? Regular inspection/Insurance tags check ?

im in queens btw

Hello Folks,
GS500E rider here in Queens NY, ride mostly out east on Long Island, or up north to the Bear Mountain area. I know its early to start asking but it would be nice to ride with other GS500 owners in the local area.

dude! it's never too early to set up a meeting ;)
Besides I have been riding through the entire winter :) except for the days when the snow was on the ground.

Where are you located more precisely? I am in Maspeth.
Would be great to meet and ride together  :thumb:

Let me know so we can ride together!

Whats up, In queens, close to St Johns University.

Would love to ride with you guys after i get my new tires and inspection,

Know any good inspection places in Queens? Everything is stock, shouldn't have a problem passing.

kml.krk

^^^^
you will not have any problems passing

They will check lights (front+back), horn, turn signals, they may take a GLANCE for apparent leaks, and if they didn't drink too much bear the night before they may take your bike off the center-stand and check the front suspension. If they drank a lot they obviously will not do that - it would be too much hassle for them...

can't wait for spring - commute in cold is fine, but longer rides are just not fun.

Are there any motorcycle gatherings in Manhattan where a few of us could meetup?

kml.krk

I heard about one, but it was two years ago, Supposedly guys were gathering in lower Manhattan every Tuesday night (only summer) to do some stunts, and tricks.

I never went because I don't really like riding in manhattan... It's like asking for trouble  :D

It may be more dangerous riding in Manhattan, but it sure improves your clutch control, balance and fast swerving. I typically drive to work in Midtown around 2 times per week when the weather is nice.

I've been lurking on the forum for years, and even got to ride with kml.krk to Bear Mountain a few years ago, but was away from NYC and hadn't posted in a while. I thought I'd just reply to the NYC posts - I'm in lower Manhattan and up for greets or rides.

Tomorrow is Columbus Day 2010 and I'm planning on tooling around the Hudson Valley for my day off. Also, October 21-23 I'd be up for a ride, if anyone wants to make a local trip, just post up here. I'd be happy to share on the planning or route mapping, etc.

Gaspy I am in Hamilton, NJ and have no problem meeting anywhere. I have been riding the sh1t out of my bike weather permitting. I bought my 2nd bike on LI and rode it home on the Parkway/Verisono to the Turnpike. No worries. You have a cool place to ride lets F4cking go!

gaspy

Wow Bear Mountain was empty on Columbus Day, and beautiful. I couldn't go this past week, but weather permitting, I'll be going one day this coming week (October 28-Nov 1). Let me know if you're interested in joining. I'll post a confirmation before going for sure.
