I recently had someone try and steal my '05 GS500F with a screwdriver. I guess they were trying to unlock the forks, but I think it was just damn kids. The? rounded out the entire keyhole pretty far down. Does anyone have any idea what I will need to replace and where I could grab one and how much it will cost? I appreciate any help you can give.

Any Suzuki dealership can get you a new lock cylinder and can probably get one matching your key so you don't have to rekey your trunk or carry two keys.  I bought a new ignition cylinder for around $50 this fall, but I've seen them in the $100 range as well.  You could also try BikeBandit.com or CheapBikeParts.com which is cheaper than Bike Bandit.

Thanks for the info. I found the lock cylinder, a gas lid, and a trunk key cylinder on ebay for pretty cheap, do you recommend changing out all three or are the others pretty tough as well? Have you or anyone else ever changed the lock cylinder in the ignition before? Is it in the manual? Sorry for all the questions, not new to the GS but new to fixing this kind of thing...

I believe changing all three shouldn't be that difficult.

The Tank has four screws to unscrew, and the ignition unscrews from the bottom. Disassembly required.

As for the seat, I think you'll have to remove some parts. All pretty easy jobs with the right tools.  :)

Its honestly not that hard.  It should take you no more than hour really.

The ignition switch is installed with security bolts. The heads snap off when installed. They are not that easy to remove, I have had 1 out 10 come out easy. The manual says to use a punch to tap it loose. That way has worked before for me but I have found drilling them out the best. Part of the stud will need to be ground down or the bit will walk.
