So today I figured I'd have a go at re-jetting my stock 94 gs500e. I have a bag of every jet size for the bike, and after consulting this board, it looked as though 40 pilots, with 135 mains and 3 turns out was the ticket.  Also adding one shim on the needle

Everything went well, got it all cleaned up, new jets installed, installed one 4mm washer under the c-clip on the needle, put it all back together and went riding. It basically feels better in the lower RPM range (4000 to 6000k), it has more pull. However, at 7000rpm the engine starts bogging, acceleration drops off and it just loses power. I have got a similar feeling to this before the re-jet when I'm at wide open throttle, but I experienced this whilel accelerating to highway speed.

So what I'm wondering is whether I need to remove the shim on the needle to start pllaying with the air/fuel mixture...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

Adam

I'm kinda talking out my backside, but I think issues with high rpm/wide open throttle are due to the jet size.  The mid-range is set with the washer.

So you're saying it did it before the rejet? Or did it get worse? Or just appear?

Before the re-jet, the bike pulled smoothly about 6k, but now it feels like it has a bit more grunt down low, but dies off quickly about 6k. Does anyone rejet but not add washers? What would the effect of running 125 main, 40 pilots and no spacers?
