Rode into work today the first time since Feb 4th! Winter is over! We've had 47 inches of snow in February, and this is the LONGEST period of time I've ever been forced off the roads due to road conditions. I did encounter one section of black ice, but I saw it coming and was well-prepared... but still puckered up a bit  :icon_eek:

Keep the faith and the rubber side down - we'll all be on the road soon!

Ride safe....

Cool, where in PA are you?

I wanted to ride so bad today! I moved to Pittsburgh this winter, and I left my bike back at home because I didn't have anywhere to store it.

I think I'm going to make a trip back tomorrow to get it though!

Interesting.....

Finally someone else from Pittsburgh!! There's a few other people who are close, but I haven't seen anyone else on here that actually lives right here before.

Gah, I wanted to go out so bad today.  I'm just getting absolutely swamped with schoolwork though.  It's ridiculous, all of these days off from the snow, teacher's are just cramming it all in now.

I'd say I'm from Pittsburgh too, I can't be more than 15 minutes away from downtown.

I'm in Pennsylvania Dutch country - southern Chester county: Kennett Square, Oxford, Lincoln University. Rt 896 just up the road from Newark, DE. It's been the roughest winter I've experienced since I lived in Fort Collins, CO (1980 - 120 inches of snow! I was on a bicycle back then, at -7 degrees F!!!).  Glad to be on the road again, and hope to see y'all soon!

How's the riding in your area?

We should set up a "welcome back, spring" GS ride in a couple weeks, if there's enough people in the area. haha   :thumb:

Don't worry I didn't forget about you. Where'd you say you were from, around Moon?? There was one other guy I met on here that used to work at Pitt, but I don't think he's around here much anymore.

What part of town did you move to? I'm definitely gonna be looking for some new people to ride with. It's been so long since I've been riding that I've lost contact with the guys I used to ride with. Plus that was back when I used to have a faster bike, Who knows how they ride and if I'd even keep up on the GS(in addition to the fact that my skills have had 3 years to diminish), not that I really care to anymore. It'd be cool to ride with some people that have the same bike. I'm going to do a lot of work this weekend, and I'm hoping I can get it inspectable by next weekend.

Pretty good! Lots of twisty back roads and in most cases, traffic is relatively light. You're always bound to encounter some Amish along the way. I love PA 82 south of Kennett Square. PA 896 can be a lot of fun, plus some other places that would make you think you were someplace other than PA. It's really pretty rural around here. How is the riding down in your area? I used to occasionally work down in Baltimore back in the mid-90's, and also in Cecil County, which is pretty close to where I live.

There are some nice roads once you get outside of the city.  The most scenic riding is in western MD though.

well this thread changed a little from its original topic but i just had to comment on the fact that today was an amazing day to ride, although a little chilly this morning riding season is finally coming to Canada  :D well Ontario atleast haha...it was great to get it out for a ride today and was thankful the bike started fairly easily  :thumb:

I've never been afraid of the cold and the wet on a bike (heck, you'd only have a couple of days' riding a year in England if you were) but I must admit to being terrified of black ice.
Mods thus far:

14 tooth front sprocket
Complete paint job, red to black
Oxford heated grips
Fenderectomy
GSXR foot pegs

...much more to come!

A very healthy fear! I choose my route carefully and know the potential trouble areas. I'll always scout the area on my way to and from work by car before I'll get back on my bike again after a storm. Forewarned is forearmed!

I agree, i've been waiting for the riding season. The rain has stopped and i'm ready to hop on and ride more then just the weekends. I've been waiting to ride her into work, but because of the rain and the cold weather haven't been able too. I work really early in the morning so it's so cold for me to ride...yayyyyy summer!!!!  :D
