Another forum I visit has a "What did you do to your bike today?" thread, which is an interesting way to keep up on what people have been up to. I guess this one is the same kind of idea.

Because you wrote this yesterday, I can say I went to home depot and picked up some of their large safety pins so I can make some springs for my gsxr peg swap, which I think will make them a bit nicer.

As far as today.... I woke up an hour late, came to work, and now I'm playing on the internet.

Today? I worked, class, and lab. Yesterday, I ordered new tires for my Motorcycle and will be putting that and other parts on this weekend  :thumb:

She'll be coming together soon :D

lmk how that goes, it would be nice to have something to make sure my gsxr pegs stay down like they are supposed to

Definitely will. I'll post some pictures for everyone to see. The spring is a tiny bit wider than the washer you need to put in there, so while it might be possible to jam it in there, the peg would no longer move freely, and there'd be no point to the springs. The only thing I have to decide is whether I want to file a tiny bit off one side and just put the spring next to the peg, or cut a slot out of the peg where it attaches and slide the spring in the middle, in which case I may switch to nylon spacers outside of the peg. That would be more ideal, but they're cheap pegs and I'm worried about how strong they are. I don't want to do anything that would make it snap off someday. I may just stick it on the side and order another set of pegs someday so I can try both ways without worry about ruining this set 2 weeks before spring.

well I'm running gp shift now.  using a shifter off a pre-98 katana, with extended shift rod.  I bolted it to the stock rearset.

if you want to run the spring in the middle, look into a set of gsxr front pegs, idk how wide they are, but they are designed that way already, so strength shouldnt be an issue.  like these for reference  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Rider-Foot-Pegs-Suzuki-GSXR-600-750-1000-06-09-Front-Bk_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem29fce5b576QQitemZ180336571766QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_2349wt_939

I got those springs on my front pegs today. It was a pretty easy process. Half the time was spent taking pictures. They spring back down nicely now. Not as much tension as normal pegs, but enough that I don't have to worry about the pegs ever getting stuck straight up. I'll post the pictures tomorrow though, it's late and I'm gonna go to bed.

I also painted my tail and front fender. The blue is no where near the color the of the tank. I almost with I had painted them white and maybe put something else on them so the colors were intentionally different, but no big deal, it's just temporary anyway. I was hoping to find some blue that would match the tank, but I'll most likely just repaint the entire bike a new color when the time comes. Only thing left to do is balance the wheels, go get some gas, and put the tail/fender back on and I'll see about getting it outside.

I also started looking for a new front seat. There's always that issue with the R6 tail conversion with the lower bars of the subframe sticking out, but I was playing with it and if I find a seat the curves downward on the outside edges like most do, it'll let me drop the front end of the tail about an inch or two, and I think it'll actually line up with the subframe perfectly. I can then just line the tail up with an undertail and I'll be in business.

New update. I finished putting my bike back together tonight!

Extremely excited. I repainted the tail and front fender to match the tank yesterday. They don't match at all. The tank is a really deep sparkly blue, and the parts I used are just a royal, non shiny rustoleum spray paint blue. It's not permanent, I just wanted to make them roughly the same color until it's nice enough out to repaint. I balanced my wheels tonight, which wasn't too hard, and checked over all the nuts and bolts. The only thing I have to do tomorrow is make sure the headlight is adjusted, and go get some gas for it.

Otherwise I've just gotta find insurance and get it inspected.

The only thing I'm worried about is how the bike doesn't even want to be pushed in 1st gear with the clutch lever pulled in. I'm hoping it's just the oil being thick while it's cold, and after it warms up it'll be ok. Otherwise I'm going to have to drain the oil and pull the clutch apart to see what the problem is. It's super clunky and hard to shift too, but again I'm hoping that'll ease up once the motor is warm.

Don't worry about the 1st gear pushing thing. My bike won't either and it's a K9. So what I do is... put it in neutral to push it around. And if I really want it to be in gear while I push it, then start the bike and it can be pushed while in gear.

That's what people have said. The weird thing is I don't ever remember the bike doing it before this past fall. I'm not sure if it just started, or if I just noticed. Either way it's weird. Someday I definitely need to pull it apart to see why it's so ridiculously clunky and hard to shift. I know part of it is because it's a GS, but I think mine has to be worst than most.

I'm gonna try it out tonight after work anyway, so I'll see how it goes.
