Just curious.  Looking at pictures of other bikes on here makes me feel like I'm one of the few with a stock can.

I have a full V&H and I hate it. It's so ungodly loud, but it was on the bike when I got it. I can't even gently cruise around my neighborhood at 3k rpm without feeling like I'm irritating everyone around me. If it was as simple as replacing the can I would switch it back, but I don't feel like rejetting and finding a stock airbox to go with it.

If you're still stock and unsure, I would just leave it that way. In my personal oppinion it's not one of the bikes that sounds amazing with a pipe on it. It's the same noise, just louder.

cobra f1 slip on. not too loud, dont know about performance....prob next to nothing. but i like the sound.

really? I think it sounds awesome...except at idle...it still sounds like a sewing machine, just angrier. At any thing other than idle V&H sounds awesome to me. its actually quieter than my old bike!

i have the yoshimura TRS slip on and love the sound..and it definitely isnt the same sound as stock, the Yoshimura makes the bike sound a lot deeper and aggressive...and well of course it is a lot louder but its all personal preference and i like louder, deeper and aggressive so im quite happy with it  :thumb:

I have straight pipes on my GS :icon_lol: and while it's not in a bike it still makes the same sound.

I have to wear ear plugs under my helmet to avoid ringing in my ears and partial deafness after a 10 minute drive... but the sound is godlike :icon_lol:

commuterdude

love my Jardine stainless/aluminium system.   Would never go back to stock.
Attack but have a back up plan

Stock. I'd like it to sound better, but i don't want to rejet and annoy my neighbors. Been there, done that.

Wow, it seems like I was wrong.  Most people seem to stick to the stock.  Interesting.

Well? What did you decide? :icon_question:

I vote stock...spending $ for a few horsepower that would seem modest on a push lawnmower...

Stock, the GS500 is what it is, dollar for dollar your money is better spent on another bike for more performance, if I want more ponies I ride my GSX650F or my Wee Strom

Well, XealotX, it really wasn't a decision-making thing, I was just trying to get a more accurate view of what most people were running.
