HI.
I have just got my gs500. It's GREAT!
All the bolts etc have been replaced with non standard ones by the pevious owner including the oil filler cap. But to my horror when i went to check the oil there was NO dip-stick on it.

My question is; Can anybody supply me with the length of a standard GS500E 2002 dip-stick?

I need the measurements from the bottom of the filler cap to the end of the rod, plus the HI & LOW marks on the stick.

All i wanna do is check my oil level :(

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Its only a $10 part, and a pretty important one at that!!!!  I'd order one if I were you.  JMHO.

Wiggy,

Welcome to the board!  The previous owner must have obtained a filler cap from an older GS Suzuki, which used a sight glass instead of a dipstick to check the oil.

BikeBandit is an American outfit, but VTLion is right; you're better off with a new one or one you could obtain from your friendly neghborhood breakers.

I think it was 7 inches from the bottom of the cap... but if your cap itself is different... well its anybody's guess.
Cool.

Don't forget to subtract 1" from the ruler markings.

Don't be TOO quick with the praise - I just noticed that wiggy (the original poster) is from the UK.  I shoulda done a picture with the dipstick lined up on the 100mm mark or something.

Sorry wiggy - I hope you don't mind subtracting upside-down numbers!
