2-Up Seat Experiences / Recommendations

Hi,

I have a 2002 GS500 and am looking for recommendations on aftermarket seats.  Specifically, I'm looking for 2-up "sport touring" seats, as my wife rides with me frequently in the summer.  Her only complaint is the fact that the passenger seat isn't terribly comfortable for more than about an hour at a time :(

Naturally, the Corbin 'Gunfighter & Lady' seat was at the top of the list (everyone who has them seems to like them, regardless of motorcycle model).  However, when I asked Corbin if their GS500 seats would fit a 2002, the response was not very positive: ("Not sure.  It'll fit if the frame has not changed since 2000...")

So, does anyone have any direct experience with aftermarket 2-up seats on post-2000 models?

Has anyone put the aforementioned Corbin seat on their post-2000 GS500?

Details welcome. :)

Don't have a 2002, ( 2000), so cannot answer the frame-fit part; however, I asked a similar question a year or so ago and got no absolute answer, but the riding position makes for kinked passenger leg muscles on any short wheelbase, canted exhaust bike. If any saddle will do the job, the one you have selected is the best bet.
I finally bit the bullet and bought a Sergeant saddle.....and a BMW K75 to put under it. Now I'm working on SWMBO about keeping the GS for my "roundtown rides."
We don't really know what we're doing and even when we do, it doesn't seem to help. Bono

As far as I have heard there are NO aftermarket seats available for the post-2000 year GS.  I had an '01 model and could not find any.  The frame has not changed, but the tank has...drastically.  The <2000 models had their seats turn upwards and ride up the back of the tank.  Yours does not.

Perhaps you might could find a local upholstry guy to reshape your exosting seat?

I was hoping with the arrival of the '04 model (looks to have the same seat as the '01-03) that the aftermarket companies would come out with something for the newer models.

Maybe you and/or your wife could try bicycle shorts, the kind with padded crotch area.  I haven't tried it, but I got the idea from the Aerostich catalog.

Interesting idea.

She picked up a pair of "bike-undershorts" (pretty slick, actually) for mountain biking... should even work under jeans / motorcycling pants... I'll have to get her to try that when the temperature rises a bit. ;)

Personally, I find the seat quite comfortable ...  Though, I might be the only one...
