I just got a stock 2005 gs 500f today.  It was a nice ride home on the new bike.  I'm in Spartanburg SC.  Only grip about her is she got a numbing vibe in the handle bars,  other than that its a great bike.  I always loved a center stand and an air cooled 500.  Soon I will be taking off the fairing to convert her to a naked bike with a SV 650 headlight. Thanks for all the info on this web site.

does it have weighted bar ends on it? without those life is not good..

You're crazy. If you're not going over 135/140 mph there's no reason to have a windshield!

Congratulations on the new bike. Just about all bikes have some kind of vibration in the handlebars. Check around the internet, there's plenty of thing to help with that.

I agree, naked FTW.  I like riding 90-100 on the highway and accidentally turning my head to change lanes.  Makes for some fun.

Ever ride in Florida esp through the love bug season? Then the windshield helps and I'm not crazy.

The Volkswagons?? Every year when it warms up enough for bugs to come out I remember how much I hate them. I've just gotten used to them being splattered across my faceshield. It's ok until you forget what you're doing and try to wipe them off with your hand.

OCD: you've gotta do the tuck and drop your head down and then to the side. High speeds aren't bad if you get the technique down. Watch some race videos and check out how they look behind them. I remember the very first time i hit 80mph on a motorcycle. It was an old dual sport, I was already scared, then I took my hand off the grip to feel the air with my hand and thought I was going to die from not being able ot get my hand back on the grip. Eventually I realized I could just turn my hand sideways and it would slice right through the air, but panic definitely set in for a second.

Oh I know now of course.  I should have stated my first time on the high way naked.  I have ridden faired before and it is easy compared to naked.  I actually like the fight.
