Hi all, Im toying with the idea of rebuilding a bike. As a GS owner I thought a ealy model GS may be the go, or even a Honda VT 250. Any idea's on a rebuild that would be appropriate for a first attempt? Any thing you have rebuilt that was either a great success or a miserable failure? Just after some of your ideas.

I'm still in the process of rebuilding my Z, still able to ride it. I've just got to rebuild the spare motor, it should be finished in a month or so, hopefully. I don't think there is any 'appropriate' bike for your first, just pick a bick that you'll want to ride afterwards and it will be a money pit.

I was toying with the idea in my head (and asked the BigD's opinion last night at work) of doing a Suzuki Intruder LC 250 but in a bobber style bike. Seen some Intruders done in that style and they look pretty good.

its the 1400cc but still the concept and look is there that i want to achieve.

How long till you're off your restriction? Personally, I wouldn't worry about a 250, get something bigger.

still gotta get off my backside and book MOST, then the one year P's.

I guess i never thought of the "money-pit" factor.

How long have you been working on the Z?

There was 6 months to get it ready for rego and in the 12 months that it's been registered there has always been something to do on it. It hasn't worried me too much about the cost as it's going to be a keeper.
