One of the guys I ride with has recently installed a remote garage door. Previously, he lifted up and pulled it down manually. Then he manually locked it. Now he has the remote. But is worried someone will open it using a code scanner or something. And then take his bike.

So... he put a padlock through his rotor. Same as a disclock, in function.

All good, right?

Nope.

Last ride we did he arrived quite late. Seems he misplaced the key for the padlock and had to use his grinder to grind off the padlock!

Not to start a pissing contest but an acquaintance of mine tried to ride away on his new R6 and dumped it because he forgot to take the disc lock off   >:(

I totally feel you man, I don't want anyone dicking with my investment, and honestly I think a under the seat Scorpio alarm is the way to go, it's not out in the open and there's no way they're gonna silence it without it going off for at least 10 seconds, which is more than enough time to trigger the handheld receiver. Turn the volume up to max and keep that shaZam! by your pillow. I don't think I'd bother with LoJack unless I had a Busa or something over $10k, but I only buy used vehicles anymore so my insurance would be more than enough to cover the value. And, like I said before, I feel a lot better with that lock on it too, it's totally worth the money and really the only thing I'm worried about anymore is vandalism, but the alarm gives me a lot of peace of mind for that too.

Oh I've done that several times. I've never dumped a bike because of it, though. I mean, how fast did he take off?? Besides. you Just put the disk lock on the bottom towards the back so it can only rotate an inch or two before you notice it's on :P

fyi, Iron Pony Motorsports carries these in stock, and they aren't that far from where I am. I was half tempted to buy one when I bought my new Tourmaster transition jacket. After I get my engine back together I'll pick one up and give you a good review.

I have one of these:

Works good.  Gotta have something to lock it onto (street pole, parking meter, another bike.)  Otherwise it becomes cool looking disc/wheel lock.
