Very nice indeed!  I am liking it a lot.  I should have mine today and from there I can determine if it is really right.  Still though, great ingenuity and idea!

I was not going to run a chain guard so I cut off my tabs, lol.  Should be interesting to see how I mount it.

The mascot of the GS500.. The creature that's got the biggest ugliest a$$ of them all.
A wombat. It's got a big ugly a$$ too.

Looks sweet. I might have to steal this idea. I still LOVE your exhaust look and with some nice tips it would look even more amazing.

Thanks!

I like the "look" of the exhaust too, but it won't be staying that way.  Open exhaust is not my cup of tea.

Man, a 160 looks huge on the GS. The 160 looks tiny on my Monster.
Looks nice!

Have you thought about a two sided high mount exhaust?

You can do something like mine and get 2 short atv muffers or even baffled tips. Leaving the exhaust cut there makes the rear look really clean and shows off the hugger.

I like the space between the bottom of the seat and tire.  I don't want to take that space up with mufflers.  Plus the piping running up to the mufflers wouldn't be pretty since it would have to wrap behind the foot pegs and go straight up.

The muffler I am using is getting mounted under the bike.  It won't cover either side of the wheel.   :thumb:

Awesome. Can't wait to see it.

Was there a big difference between the 95 and 01 gas tanks? I have a 2005 Ducati Monster S2R seat and the front wont line up with the back of the 95 gas tank. Oh and did your setup make the seat hight higher? Thanks!

Old tank.....

New tank....

The new tank is rounder and has those indents on the bottom where the seat wraps around it. The old one has sharp edges and is just square shaped at the back.

Thanks for the detail ttfour.  I have too much on my mind right now to think about the bike.   :dunno_black:

I started wondering today what my bike would look like with a black frame and swingarm.  So I did this photochop.  I am not sure if I like it or not.  That may be because I have looked at the silver frame for so long.  I won't be taking it apart anytime soon to repaint, though.

Made a little progress on the bike today.  I mounted the battery box (no pic of that).  Also rivited a piece of ABS plastic on the bottom of the seat frame to protect the wiring.  Notice in the pics the Ducati monster side cover under the seat.  I'll have them mounted permanetly this week.

way late but a little thought: i like the look of those side covers, but only if they were moved forward.  if i were to do a similar mod, i would cut those side covers a bit and mock them up under the tank/seat where the (subframe?) starts.  that would fill in the silver space under the tank and seat and make it look like the seat wraps around/down to where the main frame is. not sure i explained myself well enough.. just my suggestion though since you have negative space, the tail support, another sliver of negative space, then the seat and tank.  i think those side covers would fill that gap nicely.
rustbucket on wheels that go vroom vroom and stuff.

I'd have to say the black frame is MUCH better!
Damn you!

pandymai:  I am probably not even going to be using those side covers now, but this is a good idea if I do.

Sorry, I painted my 91 frame black.  I guess I'm pretty jaded towards the black frame then lol

+1

It hides the dirt better or something...
VROOM VROOM!!!

I also like the black. I think I may paint my frame black when I get around to painting my tank and tail. I'm hoping I may be able to do it without pulling the bike apart, and just covering the motor and everything else, but I'll see how it goes.
