Well i did a full carb clean solved my missing problem.  Ive always had issues with it popping and sluggish throttle but it pops louder and more often now and it only happens when i give it some throttle or under load. Could it be running to lean?

Jlittle

Oh it also pops when i let off the throttle..  I have a 05 GS

black and silver twin

If it got worse after carb clean ide say either too rich or vacuum leak. for the record what jets are installed? also what mods?

its completely stock 2005 gs500f doing this from my phone so I can't look up what stock jets are till I get home.

If its a stock bike it probably has stock jets, Ide bet on vacuum leak. or something not reassembled right.

Since I'm not the one to waste money on a mechanic also not doing the best fincially what would be the best way for me to go about testing for a vaccum leak?  I'm pretty sure I reassembled it correctly but I may have not I will have to look for some pictures showing all the hoses hooked up and compare mine hehehe.

There could be many places a leak could be found, Someone else can help if i miss any. Tank cap is vented, could be clogged. Frame petcock not flowing properly, diaphragm could be torn or shifted out of position. vacuum tube disconnected at carb or frame petcock. leaking or torn carb boots(head to carb). leak between the air box and carbs. My guess would also be a vacuum leak. you might need to tighten something up of forgot something on reassembly, more than likely carbs not seated into rubber boot at the head, or at the air box. The tube that goes from the carb to the frame mounted petcock is notorious for popping off, check that first. I bought new spring clips for mine. Also you can spray carb cleaner or starting fluid by carb boots, while the bike is running, it it revs up=the fluid is getting in, you would have a leak.
hope this helps

checked tank cap thats clean, carb diaphragms are good, i did put it together correctly but im going to go over everything to check for possible holes and put clamps to make sure they are all connected properly.  I was popping very badly on the way in to work i stopped at DD and when i started the bike up the idle was 1.5k so i adjusted it and now it seems that the popping had stopped though i had only drove half a mile on it since i messed with the idle but i could def tell a difference in power after messing with the idle screw.  Does that make any sense?
