Hello track GSers, I've been lurking on this section of the forum, dreaming of an introduction to track days for quite some time. Does anybody know anything about Tony's Trackdays or ridden with the organization?

I'm (re)located in NYC and want to try a track day in the northeast with a reputable organization and helpful instructors. Tony's only rides the NJMP, NHMP, and Monticello tracks (in 2010 at least), and is in my area. It seems like a relatively affordable, safe, sound option. Here's a link to their website: http://www.tonystrackdays.com/index.cfm. Can anyone vouch for them, or offer another introductory alternative for a track newb? I don't yet want to join a membership group as I've never tracked. I'm sure I'll be hooked, but I want to try once or twice before paying any membership fees.

I've done track days with NATE KERNS, BMW's factory rider, at roebling road.  likely too far for you to ride, but there are no membership or anything.  just show up with money, and all signals taped up, and go ride.  for novices, he does a few pace laps where he shows you where and how to initiate your turns, and then you get to ride.  maybe there are programs like that in your area?

I don't have any first hand experience with them but the guys over at nestreetriders do. Check out the forum, most of them are pretty decent guys.

never ride faster than your guardian angel can fly... or 10 mph over the speed limit if you like your license.

I have no experience with Tony's trackdays, but I do have a few things I look for in a track provider...

1. Ambulance on site. Possibly two. The ambulance can respond to non critical emergencies, and provide faster response in the event of a major accident.
2. Through tech inspection. Someone else's unsafe bike could easily cause you to crash.
3. Reasonable passing policy. I prefer a provider that permits both inside and outside passes.
4. Safety enforcement, staff on track at all times.

This is all great info, thank you everyone. The http://nestreetriders.com/forum/ site has some good ride sharing/bike transport info to tracks also. I'm going to try Tony's Trackdays toward the end of the season; I believe they have all the above things. I'll reply with a short review of my experience there at a later date. Thank you!

As an added note... A safety inspection can help you out as well. At my last trackday, one of the techs pointed out that I was out of brake pad. It surprised the hell out of me, because I had replaced the pads just a month ago.
