Just finished up painting most of the parts for my gs500. I still have to finish painting the fairing which will be jet black and orange.

And a huge thanks to baltimoreGS. He helped answer alot of questions for me.

Nice.  I approve of the fender chop too.  Random piece of metal holding your plate or something more deliberate?

about that fairing bit, man, it looks so nice without it... any chance you'l leave it off and let the naked goodness shine on ? (looooove the orange)

I'm actually alittle torn over what to do. I figure since I already have all the paint I'll go ahead and paint the fairing and put it on. See how it looks, if I don't like it I'll go back to the naked bike and put dual angel eyes on the front

That looks sweet!!  I really like the color, nice work   :thumb:  I'd be tempted to leave it naked but I'd like to see what you do with the fairing.  What paint did you go with?

I ended up going with the Kustom Shop Urethane from TCP Global. I'll be sure to post up pics when I get the fairing done, It'll probably be about 2 weeks.

I absolutely love that color...and the nakedness!!  But yeah, I'm curious to see what you do/how it looks with the full fairing.  Keep us posted!

The mascot of the GS500.. The creature that's got the biggest ugliest a$$ of them all.
A wombat. It's got a big ugly a$$ too.

Single stage?

Nope it's basecoat clearcoat.

Spraying the paint was the easy part. the prep work is where all the work is. I had a nasty dent from where the previous owner right on one of the body lines on the tank. Put about 40 hrs of work into just the gas tank.

Yup, the prep is the most important.  I have a long road of prep ahead of me as I know what it takes.  I chose a base/clear as well.  I actually can't wait to paint it!!!

Then it will be even more original, like yours!
