I do not seem to be able to get a rod on the top edge to start punching it out

It's so much easier than trying to convince a bearing it wants to come out with a punch and a hammer.

I haven't used one, but I found it after I spent several hours trying to remove the lower bearing on a bike. I think you could make one using some metal conduit, and cutting into the end with a hacksaw. It would probably conly be good for one use, but then how often do you plan on doing this job.

Tap it back in and start again. Apply gentle taps in four places on the race, alternate between 12, 6, 3, 9 oclock, you have to keep it square as you knock it out, if it cocks in the housing it will jam.

Are those meant for motorcycles? I thought Park only made bicycle tools, they're good tools regardless. I've made some of those out of bicycle seat posts before. Any steel pipe you can find to cut will work.

They are actually made for bicycles, but some guys on another forum I go to have used them for motorcycles.
