New member here....and I hate the fact that my first forum post is in this section...but I am looking to buy...not sell.

My 19 yo son has an '07 500F.  I had bought a pair of Kenda tires ( based mainly upon reviews that I read here), and my son was on his way over to my house to mount them, when he hit gravel in a curve and low-sided. No serious injury, but the front end got tweaked pretty good.

So aside from the various small items like levers, turn signals, etc that I can find on ebay - the main items that I am looking for are:

Front Forks (or at least fork tubes)
Front Wheel
Complete Speedometer/Tachometer assembly

It appears to me, from looking at parts lists, that anything from an 04 to 09 would work.

So if anyone has any of these items that they wish to sell, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

C. Heath

BTW...My wife and I ride a Yamaha FJR and I found your Forum through some contacts on the FJR Forum. The GS is my son's first bike and he loves it.

Are you going to go naked now. Or do you need mirrors too?

I am getting ready to swap my front end to GSXR. I will have Front Forks, Wheel, Fender, etc... You would need to replace the fork seals but they are in good shape. Not sure if the newer year models are too much different but mine is a 96. (Naked.)

let me know if you are interested. This might just give me the motivation to get -r- done.

Thanks,
CB

By the way, I am located in Mobile, AL if you are anywhere Jackson, MS south. We could meet and save shipping costs.

he broke a rim and bent some forks from low-siding? damn must have been haulin ass. did the bike slide int a curb or a tree? good to hear your son is ok.

Junkie

you sure the forks are actually bent, not just twisted in the clamps?

Mary- Fortunately, he was already running around naked, so I don't need mirrors...this time.
        BTW...you have mail

cboling - looking at parts lists...it appears that every part for 89-02 forks is different from 04-09 forks. Not sure if that is true or not...maybe
someone else can answer that question.   But I appreciate your offer...that would have worked out great.

jrains89 - yep.....that's his story and he is sticking to it.....I have come to the realization that I will probably never know the truth.  I am just glad that my preaching about ATGATT seems to have sunk in, a least a little, and he was not hurt.

Junkie - yep, they are bent right at the lower triple tree clamp point...bent about 3/4" - 1" back.  The tubes don't look creased, but I am wary of trying to straighten them and send him back out onto the streets. Especially since it appears that he is orientated
          towards "performance" riding

I have some ugly front forks. pitting up high, but not where the seals go. I will sell them with no springs for $20 + shipping. Off a 1992. You will need to remove the screws for the fork brace if you want to use the whole assembly. I would suggest just adding a fork brace, filling with oil and swapping springs from the wrecked bike. the seals weep a little, but $20, plus shipping.

PM me if you are interested.

Well dang...that is a great offer...but I dont know enough to know if those will fit an '07.  All I have to go on are part numbers at places like Bike Bandit.  They show that every fork part for a '92 is different from an '07.    It looks like maybe they re-designed forks after '02?

Well, if you determine that they are the same or at least the same enough to work, the offer still stands. Forks (good shape minus leaky seals), stock fork brace, wheel with bridgestone tire (good life left), fender if needed.

jrains89

they will fit. trust me i have older forks on my 04F, which is identical to the 07F.

I've got an instrument housing.  Has a scratch on the front of the left housing, but otherwise brand new.  PM me, if you want it.  Can't promise I'll check immediately, as I'm in the middle of projects also.

jeremy_nash

if you use the whole fork leg, they will work.  you would just have to remember you have the older forks if-when you have to do the fork oil seals
