from the convergence of male and female gametes (sperm and egg)

and i believe the biggest tire to fit onto a stock rim is 140, any bigger and the tire's profile will be affected and not be optimal

If this freshershest-thread-ever gets spoiled by petty fighting, I'm gonna be so mad.

I know here in NC your horn does have to work.   You don't have to have turn signals, but if you do, they have to work as well.   Gotta have brake lights that work, and a working headlight of course.
Attack but have a back up plan

I have a 150 on the back of mine and it works just fine. No modifications. In Fl I believe the horn has to work.

horn will have to work, unless the guy inspecting it is lazy. I haven't seen suburban machinery bars in quite a while.

now that we are on this topic, my horn doesnt work either. I dont have a meter at this point, but whats the common problems with it? Bad horn or break in the wire some where?

the mole

I vote for bad horn, it sits there getting muck thrown at it all day. Test it by pulling the wires off it, put a 12v light bulb across them, press the button. If it lights, the horn was toast.

Toogoofy317

Yeah, my horn went out too! I just used one off an '80 CB 900. Can get them pretty cheap from JC Whitney etc...

Hey numnutz, I just reread your original questions, don't Suburbans have steering wheels, not handlebars?????
Also, I've got a spare horn if you want to pick it up. When you get to Sydney, just turn right and head north about 500 miles :thumb:

The stock sizes, 110/70/17 and 140/70/17 are the best tires to put on the bike when they are available. The bike simply doesn't need more rubber than that, and any extra tire is just added weight that you have to spin up. There's just no reason to sacrifice handling to install a large tire. There are a lot of 140 profile rear tires that fit, and often a 140 is the only size available that fits the GS.

It's possible to install a 150 rear tire, but the profile is all wrong for the GS. The rear rim is too narrow for that tire.

I thought stock was 130, and people just put on a 140 because you could?

the mole

Yeah, stock is 130 which is probably more than it needs.

Toogoofy317

Interesting my 150 fit in there quite nicely and the profie doesn't look to shabby either. I also think it handles better than the 130. I have the Bridgestone BT45s.
