Or, why 4 valves are better than 16!

Sorry, I don't know how to make it a 'link'.

Did you see how big his shims were?! Almost 3cm thick, those things were huge. Bet they weigh a ton too. I was wondering why he lifted the entire camshaft just to get it out, but I see there's no sliding that thing out by holding down the bucket.

That was the bucket, I believe.

The shim-under-bucket style tappets are used on the ZX

Try that with 20 in a smaller motor and you're in the yamaha 5 valve motors territory.
Cool.

Those shims are tiny, they fit in that little recess under the bucket, the pic was magnified a lot! Makes the shims/buckets a little lighter so you can get 15.000rpm, but you have to remove the cams to change shims.
Yeah Buddha, the 5 vaves must be fun...or how about that Honda racer with the oval pistons and 8 valves per cylinder!
I loved doing the valves on my old BMW R60, one bolt to remove rocker cover, adjust a screw to get the clearance on each valve, reinstall rocker cover. Have cup of coffee. Do other side. 10mins later, back on the road.
