the newer model tanks will fit if you trim the triangle from the front of the seat.  actually they will fit even if you don't trim it, but it looks better if you do.  you also loose the ears on the tank that the side fairings mount to in the front, but didn't shake around on my bike when I was running like that

I have a very nice coated and powdercoated one. 89-00 style.
That is all I got nothing cheaper, and a coating job on your tank is $100 and return ship, anyway this tank is $250 and shipping. Its shiny black right now, however powdercoat tends to get matt finish when gas hits it a lot. I'd therefore lightly sand and clear ... or do that in a couple years. This tank has several mods, for venting etc etc. It also was coated with 1 thin POR15 layer and drained perfectly with that vent I installed in it.
