So I have a CKX full face helmet and I don't like the fit. But it was free.  A local bike shop has ZOX helmets on sale, what I like most is the one I'm looking at has that built in sunshade visor.  Anyhow, has anyone heard of or own a Vox helmet?  This is the one I'm looking at and they have them on sale for $129 and its DOT and SNELL approved.

OH nice helm I like the shinny =) . Never had a VOX helm. I ride with an ICON Alliance SSR Speedfreak and love it. http://www.rideicon.com/product_details.jsp?category=3121&id=11190

I like the HJC modular flip up helmet. It has built in sun shade.
I wear glasses and the flip up makes it easy to put on glasses.
Also, with the flip up, I can just , well, flip it up and not have to take it off when going into stores or talking to someone. Also easy to take on and off when flipped up as opposed to a regular full face helmet.

Adidasguy:

With the flip helmet, how sturdy is the flip release mechanism. Obviously, last thing you want IF you come off, is for the flip part to flip and expose your face to Danger.

There's a Lot of debate about helmets. With the higher $ helmet sellers using the old "how valuable is your head" line. But for mine, I see them as something that meets a certain standard (they all do regardless of price) and so it comes down to... which helmet feels comfortable on your noggin. Unfortunately, wind noise is something you cannot discover before you buy. They all have it, it just varies between them. So if it's comfy and has a chin wind cover, then I'll go for it. Currently, the one fitting that bill for me is an RJays Striker.

Mister is right, helmets don't really get safer, they just get lighter, more comfortable, and have better ventilation. I have an average prices HJC that flips up in the front, and a nicer Arai, and I can tell a huge difference in quality. Putting on the Arai after the hjc just feels like I'm wrapping my head in a pillow. The HJC is probably the same helmet you can put for $125 but you pay extra for the flip up feature. It's nice though. It's pretty noisy, but does make it easy to put my helmet on without taking off my glasses. I never ride or go in stores with it up though as I'd feel stupid with it like that, but it is useful when someone on the sidewalk tries to ask you for directions, and you just flip it up to talk.

There's no reason the front would come up in a crash, especially if you landed face first. There's not really any pulling forces on your helmet in a crash, they're all pushing it inward towards your head. If you crashed into something hard enough to break the front open, I think you would've been done for anyway.

Both of mine are about 7 years old now, so I think I'm due for a new one anyway. I would love to find one with a retractable visor so I didn't have to keep an extra visor with me for when the sun goes down.
