So I don't know if the clutch on my bike is setup properly...after I have adjusted it over the past year and a half.....ive ridden other types of bikes and the transmission is more easy....mine is like sometimes hard to shift out of 1 to neutral...if I am stationary

Symptoms:

If idle stationary in gear 1..want to go to neutral...won't lift..takes very excessive force...and when that happens it pops up to 2
Same thing, if want to go back down to neutral from 2...in idle stationary..difficult
While riding...shift into upper gears...doesnt feel like it 'went in'...like just barely made it...but I don't know exactly how it works

I just don't want to be placing extra stress on my clutch while driving....how do I adjust it properly?
The mechanic said keep adjusting it till its right....but whats rightt???

You adjust the cable tension until there's a specific amount of free play at the end of the lever. The specific number is like 3 mm but I'm not 100% on that.

That said it's not always super easy to get 1st N and 2nd at a stop. I frequently have to roll the bike a bit to get out of N. The not feeling right at the higher gears isn't normal I don't think though.
'04 F to an E to a wreck to a Wee Strom?

How's your oil?

The type/brand and amount can effect gear changing.

When I changed from Motul 1000 to Motul5100 all my gear funkiness went away.
