Hey,

I know i have been posting a lot but i just got my bike and have more questions, plus I always get good answers quickly!

I just got my '02 GS500 with 11,000 miles and was wondering what maintenance you suggest to get it ready for myself. As in what should i check just encase the previous owner may have missed something? I already know the tank was lined, new battery and the card was rebuild or cleaned just before i got it. I want to change the oil/ filter (he said its been awhile but low miles, the oil level is good + clean). Tire pressure, chain lubrication and tension, valve clearance, brake fluid.... I got a new headlight.... Anything else thats important?

Thanks,
Tom

PS: The previous owner was 'cay' from this site and he gave me his records and he did do a good job keeping up with it I just want to give it a good once over.

The good, old MSF T-CLOCS is a pretty comprehensive inspection checklist.  I agree that changing the oil and filter is a good idea, too.

lubricate steering stem bearing, the cushion lever bearings and the swing arm bearing. should be done every two years.

Thanks, would a Teflon lubricant or T-9 be suitable? Those are what i use for bearings on other things .

if you already bought it, use it. i think it isn't worth. simple grease does the job as good as teflon grease.
