Here is my GS with all of the travel kit installed.  The luggage set is First Gear Silverstone.  The luggage seems well made.  It is very heavy Cordura.  I particularly like the tank bag which is large and zips free of the magnetic mount.  I also added a Zero Gravity Touring Screen to help with wind.  It works.  The blast goes *almost* over my head so I am much less tired after 200 miles or so.

Keep the shiny side up,

Chuck

I've been getting into touring on my Ural, and really like the relatively high speeds of the GS for short camping trips but have yet to do any touring modifications.  It's tough going from a 600 lb payload to the GS!  This is a great thread though... sticky? :P

Peace,

Got the old girl set up with the new bags for summer trips...I love it. I got these Fiedlsheer Compact bags for $67 at BikeBandit!!! I'm thinking I should picked up the "roller" bag too while I was at it, these have latches on top for it to clip right on...oh well the cargo net will have to do.

Here's my touring setup for a recent 3 day trip to West Virgina

    Luggage
    • FirstGear Monza saddlebags
    • Rapid Transit Reon 19 tankbag
    • Sea to Summit compression drysack

      Mods
      • Zero Gravity touring windscreen
      • Crampbuster throttle controller

The luggage setup worked out pretty well, and I was able to pack camping gear, food and clothes for 3 days without much bother and didn't notice any difference in handling. The crampbuster and a cheap walmart hydration system really helped to cut down on fatigue.

I'll post the ride report here if I ever get round to finishing my trip journal (& figure out how to resize pics!)....
