Anyone uses a GPS on their GS?  What attachment do you need? how would you go about charging it on the GS?

My wild ass guess would be 'with a handlebar GPS mount,' and 'according to the manufacturers instructions.'

Most of the time, the GPS can be hard wired to the motorcycle battery.

Like this on a F model

It's a piece of 3/4 stainless tube, heated and bent. Then attached to the head light cage with a U bolt bent out to about 60 degrees and a rubber bushing slid over the tube. That was the Garmin V, I have a Magellan 2000 on it now usins a RAM mount on the same SS tube. I much prefer it forward of the gauges than on the bar.

on mine, I had already installed a plugin.  I used the suction cup mount, and zipped it up in my cell phone pocket on my tank bag.

I stitched some velcro on top of my tank bag and stuck some on the back of my gps.

Yeah it depends on what bike and gps you have. I have an F model and a tomtom one xl. It has a curved back, so I put velcro on the plastic panel in front of the gauges and it fits perfect. I also have a 12v accessory outlet wired in under the seat.

I just got handlebar Ram Mount and mounted it on the fairing tube supports similar to lilwoody. The standard arm(3in) doesn't mount it as high as I want so I've ordered the longer 6in arm. Ram Mounts have a plastic ball it clamps on to isolate the vibrations. I've got the Ram Mount Nuvi cradle also which is supposed to have enough room to use the standard Garmin charger/mount and the standard auto charger if you mounted an accessory plug(cigarette lighter).

I also have the Joe Rocket tank bag with the GPS pocket that I really can't use. Plastic cover glares too much, plus I'd rather it be out in front of me.

I use one of these:

Uses the same braket as the suction cup mount every Garmin GPS comes with, and mounts to the handlebars.  I don't have a power source on the bike yet, so I just make sure my GPS is charged before I leave.

I have the garmin zumo 550 and it had a handlebar mount which i used, i then took the power cable supplied and routed it under the tank and directly onto the battery.

I had to use the gps on my phone to get home the other day. I turned it on and wedged it up in my helmet below my ear so I could hear the directions until I got on the highway. Haha, horrible idea though. I'd like to get some thin speakers just for when I need directions somewhere, but I hate the idea of having a cord tucked in my helmet all the time.

Waterproof Garmin on a RAM mount with USB power hardwired to taillight.  Power bike on, GPS powers on.

I don't know anything about anything.  Follow suggestions found on the internet at your own risk.

The garmin Zumo 660 kit comes with EVERYTHING! Really!
Handle bar mounts, motorcycle wiring harness, car charger, computer USB, bluetooth, etc.
Also it has option for large keyboard so you can use it with gloves on. It is a touch screen and is waterproof.
Pretty cool unit and I love that it came with everything. Works walking, biking, cycling, driving in a car with all its different modes of operation. I got mine on sale at Costco online a few weeks ago.

I either stick the Nuvi into the map pocket on my tank bag and use the blue tooth to hear it or I do the same with my Droid phone.....which actually has better maps and it will stream Pandora Radio at the same time.

i bought one of these also;

and I mounted my Nuvi 255 to it on the bars in the center.  It sits nice just below the gauges (im at work but will take a few pics and post tonight).  I want to fab something into the front inside of the faring just below the windshield at somepoint (similar to what lilwoody did).

I mounted my 12v there for this very reason;

This is a fantastic website for mounts and cradles, they have them for any sort of GPS for any model bike: http://www.ram-mount.com/
As far as charging, I wired one of these: http://www.suzukipartshouse.net/pages/catalogs/detail/15/193/1552/14950/1/0/0/4/10/10/2065/90024/waterresistant-cigarette-lighter-.aspx and wired it to an ignition fuse. Good luck!

Hey TT you can get cheap speakers off of ebay for the helmet that have velcro so you can take them in and out. I don't have the link since I got mine off of Homer but they do really well for that sort of thing!
