a friend of mine in my friends maserati/ferrari owners club wrecked his  spyder recently, and told me and others IF i can come up with the best sounding plan its mine. it will never be on the road as a maserati again, BUT i told him, id give ron ( my gransport driving friend the remaining wheels/tires) ill give others in the group the seats, maybe hte owner, he purchased another identical maserati, i want the engine/.transmission and what is left of the steering column. for my rx7 project, along with teh ECM and harness. im awaiting his decision. but it sounds addictive and would be an awesome combination in my v8 rx7 project, hell a japanese sportscar, wiht an engine from maserati/ferrari lol

I hope your friend is alright? haha from what I can see I doubt he got hurt at all.

Nice score.

My ideal attainable "dream car" is an LS7/FD.  I think you are onto something awesome.  Even if parts are going to be hard as hell to find. lol

I have never owned an RX7 but a few of my friends here in Knoxville have.  A few Turbo II's and a couple FD's.  I love the cars, only if the boosted motors lasted a bit longer.  3mm apex seals FTW!!!!1

I have a similar dream, a gsxr600 motor stuffed under the seat of a (slightly modified) honda metropolitan, haha. I can't really think of anything more fun.  :woohoo:

how about motor from a gsxr 1000, or even a bmw 1000rr, can you say 193 hp?!
gsxr shock
katana FE
99 katana front rim swap
vapor gauge cluster
14 tooth sprocket
95 on an 89 frame
lunchbox
V&H ssr2 muffler
jetted carbs
150-70-17 pilot road rear
120-70-17 sportmax front
sv650 rear wheel
sv650 tail swap
gsxr pegs
GP shift

haha, I appreciate the enthusiasm,  but with a wheelbase that short and all the weight over the rear wheel, I can't even imagine controlling the thing with a 600, not to mention that swingarm is already going to have to be triple braced just to keep from folding like a noodle. I can't imagine going over 60mph on something like that is comfortable at all, so you could already gear that motor down to 50% and be pulling 6th gear wheelies off of normal acceleration.

I remember watching a video on youtube a week or two ago of a kid on a suped up 70cc scooter racing someone on an xb12s. The kid on the scooter was laying over the handlebars and he still took off so fast that the front wheel wouldn't stay on the ground for the first 30 feet, and he was slightly ahead of the xb12 for the first 1/8th mile or so. The guy on the xb had his front wheel off the ground for a second too, so you know he was moving pretty good too. I don't think it takes much with something that small and light.

All I really want it for is so you could ride up and down the road, and wait until some kid with bad self esteem is in the car with his girlfriend in the passenger seat thinks he needs to try and toast you to look tough, but instead you just leave him behind, then laugh at him when he catches up.

if it happens id have a japanese sports car/convertible, with teh heart and soul of a ferrari. well its the same engine as is in the maserati gransport, or the ferrari 430. ( albeit slightly detuned. but a revvin sumbitch.  i drove his gransport north of 170ish going into NC a while back.  this engine around 400hp,  will propel this plastic car of mine quite nicely

It's pretty exciting to be able to acquire a motor like that!!!  Is it a wrap.....did you get it or is it up in the air.  I think it would be cool to build a custom car or do something like the V8 280zx.  Not sure what kind of funds you have but a company called factory 5 does a kit car that is pretty amazing.  It's called a GTM.  I think it comes with the power plant so not sure if you can get it without.  Check that out!!!

Speaking of modding something off the wall I saw a youtube vid of a smart car with a hayabusa motor in it.  Would be crazy fun to drive that thing.  I think if you youtube diablo smart car it will pull up.  I am at work now so can't test it.

I would be interested in how your project turns out.  Mod on!!!

I would love a smart car with a busa engine in it. Could you imagine sitting at a redlight and some ricer with the overly loud exhaust pulls up next to you thinking they are going to make you chop liver then. Whiiiiiine and zoom they are still at the red light doing the WTF :icon_eek: just happend.

Yeah sweet!

That would be one sick RX7 lol.  If I ever bin my GSXR750, I have thought of more than a couple things i would like to do with the engine if it makes it :icon_twisted:
