Handlebar Choices

So i purchased a drag bar last night and installed it on my bike.  After reading many great review on here I thought it would fit perfectly, but it doesnt. I did manage to get it on the bike but the line coming from teh brake reservoir forces mee to put the front brake handle at a really high angle.

Back to the drawing board I guess.  After riding aroud with the drag bar for a bit, i do enjoy how it puts more of my weight on the front wheel, it feels more responsive (may just be in my head) but I dont like how my brake barely fits and i think i would like a little more angle on the bar for my wrists to be more natural.

So, what are you guys using?  Clip-ons would be nice, but damn, they are not cheap

Thanks

p.s.  Anyone want to buy a dragbar? ;)

What's causing the problem with your brake lever? Is the resevoir hitting the top of the fork tube and forcing you to turn it, or is it the angle of the hose coming out? The hose can be turned slightly, I've done it to mine a couple times by loosening the banjo bolts just slightly enough to be able to twist the hose fitting to the side a little bit. don't loosen it too much because you don't want air to get in the hose, but just enough to twist it with a little pressure.

If you post a picture of what it's doing someone may be able to help you with it. Clipons improve the handling as well, getting your weight over the front wheel really helps. The downside to clipons is that they usually come with a good bit of vibrations since they're clamped on solid to the forks, instead of normal handlebars which have those rubber bushings between the two top clamps to help damp them.

How much do you want for the bars? I've been wanting to try a pair on my other bike as well, but I'm not even sure if they'll fit on that bike either so I'm hesitant to go out and buy a pair.

I recently bought some drag bars and I had the same problem with the brake hose. It hits the top tripple clamp and forces the reservoir upwards. IMO, the brake lever isn't in an uncomfortable position. Drag bars do create significantly more vibrations, which is a pain in the ass. Heres a few pics for those of you wondering about how the brake reservoir sits...

Sorry about the huge pictures.

hmm, i didnt think about rotating the hose. Ill try that tonight.

damn, i kind of feel dumb lol

These are Bikemaster Superbike bars that you can get from bike bandit and the like for 20 bucks.  I cut 1" off of each side.  The bend is not quite as aggressive as drag bars and not quite as fruity as the stock bars.  I also had to move the brake line a bit to keep the lever in a good position.

I think the main reason why people would like drag or superbike bars over the Suburban Machinery bars is because the SM bars ARE SO EXPENSIVE!!!! The drag bars fit the bill for $20, so why spend $160?

I think ill pass on those bars. There are cheaper clipon options and would get the same effect

yeah that's pretty much what I pictured happening. You might be able to get some clearance by repositioning the hose a little but probably not a ton. You should at least have plenty of extra hose because these bars are so much lower.
