LED taillight install question

So i received my LED taillight courtesy of JeffD yesterday (thanks man!), and decided to do the install today.

Problem: after initially making all the wiring connections, i can only get the LEDs to shine at a single intensity. IE they don't get brighter with the brakes on. Am i doing something wrong? Perhaps i missed something, but they ARE supposed to get brighter with the brakes depressed, right?

Black to Black, Red to White, White to Brown, right?

JohNLA

Yes, they should get brighter with the brake pressed.
Sorry, I dont remember off hand how the wires connect.
I would PM Jeff as I am sure he would no the fix.

Send him an email at the same time.  I'm not sure how often Jeff visits these days.  (He only posted 8 times in February, but he did post once yesterday.)

You can find his PM / email addresses on his profile.

If I remember correctly I had the same problem when I first wired mine in.  After playing with the connections, I fingered it out and they worked WONDERFULLY.  I should have the seat off of my bike later this week or early next week and I'll relook at the connections and see if I can help then.

you have the ground connection right but you have the other two wires switched.  just flip the two power wires and it should work fine.

Wahey!
Finally got it working. For future reference, incase anyone runs into the same problem, the wiring set-up that finally worked for me was:

LED Black to GS Black/White
LED White to GS White/Black
LED Red to GS Brown

Hope that helps.

Pablo's site (incorrectly?) says to run black to black/white, white to brown, and red to white/black. I'm not sure if this is a mistake or if this setup actually worked for Pablo. I should note that my GS is an 02, so the wiring might be different on other model years.

JeffD

No I just built Pablos different.  (his was the first one I built-prototype) so it was different from the rest. :-)

What sort of screws are you guys using to put the tailights in?  like how long?  I've had my light for a while, but haven't put it in yet, since I don't want to have the thing come loose because I used the wrong thing.  :dunno:

any type of sharp screw (that will poke into the plastic)  something like a drywall screw, just make sure you dont cut any wires screwing it in.  I used a smaller version of a drywall screw.
