so i bought new mirrors for 2005gsf. put them on too lose, put the oems back on (exactly the way i took them off) now they are loose too! can anyone pls help i cant ride safely with my mirrors flapped down.

i put the washers back on both sides and everything. keep in mind im not taking the mirror off the fairing, im taking it off the bracket that is bolted on the fairing.

could it be that i dropped a piece that i didnt notice? when i took it off all i saw were two washers and the screw holding them in. what does yours have?

If i can remember correctly i believe it is 2 washers only, one on each side of the mirror and then the allen bolt that goes through.

Can you tighten the allen bolt any more as that should prevent them from flopping around?  If that doesn't work and you have a really large gap still you could try just adding another washer but i don't see their being enough room for that.

You can add a squirt of thread lock to the joints. After a day or two when it sets up, they will tighten up. You can still adjust them, but the thread lock goo will help hold them in place. Use thread lock, not the hard lock-tight stuff.
I had to do that. The brackets are so thick and heavy duty that it is hard to tighten the bolts. Extra washer helps, too. Just check the thickness of the washers when you get them as there are different thicknesses, galvanized or not, etc.
