So I know this subject has been beat to death and more, but I've searched on this forum and googled but I can't find a specific answer for this.

Has anyone tried using an SV650 belly pan with custom mounts on the gs500?

I know i can buy them made for our bike a couple places online, or cut up the GS500F fairings (was originally planning this) but has anyone tried modifying either a ex250 ninja, or sv650 belly pan etc?

If you have, pics would be great, and what was done to make the belly pan fit.

I think we need to beat it up a little more. I've been looking for an original one and haven't found it yet. After market ones are expensive.
I have found an original headlight cowling for my '92. And I just ordered 2 brand new in the box factory original gas tanks. Not cheap, but they have no rust and don't have to be painted. So it really came out cheaper and a lot less work.
Now for a belly pan (or chin guard as some like to call it).

Anyone with any thing? I'm about to bite the bullet and buy a sv650 pan and try it, only downside is that it's made from fiberglass so i'm not really going to be able to heat it up and remold it if necessary to fit the bike well

Hi there,
I have an original OEM factory accessory GS500E belly pan I might consider selling.
I bought it about a year ago but have never had the time to install it.
So it sits unused.
PM me if you are interested and send me your e-mail address so I can send you some pictures of it.
It's in nice condition.
Let me know and best wishes,

Just picked one up on eBay. Paid $130 with shipping. I purchased an after market one from "Power Bronze". The OEM is dirty and a bit scratched but is made of much denser, heavier duty material than the after market one. IMO, the OEM is of a far better quality than the after market one.

Ready to buy OEM - name your price and lets git 'er dun.

I have a SV650 race belly pan on my GS500. It's not really a good fit for this bike -- too narrow at the bottom, without enough clearance for the engine covers or frame rails. I had to severely cut mine down to make it fit.

I posted a week or more ago I was looking for a belly pan and headlight fairing - OEM. Still needing. Also need mountings for fuel tank as I have a new one coming in and want to leave the fittings on the one I have so I can sell it complete.

Time to beat on it some more. I just found this company with reasonable prices for lots of GS500 accessories - fairings, belly pans. I'm waiting to hear from them about shipping to the US. I know its not OEM, but if I can't get the OEM (hope hope hope I can get it!) then this company might do the job:

scroll down here and you'll find a couple. This is a GS500 search:

I found the way to place an order from them.
In the checkout, whether credit card or paypal select "other country". This was something I accidentally discoveredIt will then calculate the correct shipping charges based on your address. They're British and not on the Euro so it is in pounds. They have a number of belly pans and headlight fairings/cowlings/windscreens for the GS500. They also have some replacement fuel (gas, petrol) caps and other parts.
I know it is hard to find some parts here in the USA and when you do, usually they order from Europe and mark it up quite a bit.

You do have a choice of ordering from European companies with lots of GS parts, order direct from the mfgr in Europe (both probably save you money) or order from your favorite USA dealer to help keep them in business and show support for the GS500 bikes. That's up to you. Just something to keep in mind.

So if you need a vbelly pan or headlight fairing, check 'em out. They have many to chose from:
