has anyone use this intercom, or have any suggestions for a good quality system for me and my friend to use when we go on long rides. it says for rider and passenger and doesnt have an operating range, so i dont know if it would work well for two people on differant bikes.

$20 bucks for a bike-to-bike system?  I don't think so.  Thats a wired setup just to go between rider and passenger.  Decent bike-to-bike systems are usually $200-$500 for each bike (brands like Starcomm or Baehr).

If you aren't looking to spend a lot of money look at something like Chatterbox, they start around $150.  Or you can roll your own with a set of earphones, a mic, an FRS radio and a push to talk button.  Still probably looking at a least $100 each to roll your own.

That one should be fine for bike-to-bike.... As long as you don't mind the wire running between the two.

Why do you need to talk to other riders while you're riding?

I can't answer for the original poster, but I can say its very useful when touring.

Just wondering what use it'd be, I've never had a need to talk to others while riding. We just wait till the next place we stop.

its not a neccesisty. its a convienience/want. much like you dont need your motorcycle. you just ride a bus, bike, walk, car, carpool, train, plain, automobile.

although thats not true for everyone. i for instance need at bare minimum a weekly dose of motorcycle riding. or else my goes into a state of motorcycle mouth sounds and i lay in bed revving the air until someone asks me if i wanna go ride.  This has happened twice since the time i spun my bearing and now.
