I thought I would post you a video of the what a $300 bike sounds like. When I first brought the bike home it was only running on one cylinder. I quick stop at E-bay and $25 later a new to mo coil and some new plugs and she runs on both.

That's where I found mine.  I'm hoping to get tags and title this week and maybe I can get a bit of commuting back and forth before the weather changes.

Mine is making nice noises again too and it was a steal as well. 2004 GS500F for free from a girl I went to high school with; I guess Facebook is good for something. I've had it since the end of June and to date, have $88 and a bit of time tied up in it.

Wow $300 bikes, Free bikes....  I want a VISA!

loco your rpm falls too slowl at the 2K-4K range which might suggest a lean idle mixture.
You might want to check your pilot screws (are they uncovered? how many turns out from full -but gently- in) or maybe clean your carbs.

Wow

Yeah, I did. Bike only had 5430 miles on it when I picked it up too. :woohoo:
I'll be throwing up before/after pics somewhere on the board after I get the rest of my parts for the naked bike conversion.

Yes I do think I need to do some carb work.  The RPM drop is too slow and at low R's the idle is a little rough.  When I first got it running on both cylinders the idle was around 3 grand.  There was a dial on the bottom of the carbs that turned the idle down.  I turned it all the way down to get the lower idle, but I think I need to yank the carbs and rebuild them or at the least clean them.

I got mine from a friend for $500 recently, and it was also just running on one cylinder.  I took the carbs apart and bought some new jets from Buddah and she's running on both cylinders again. My mixture screws were turned out 5.5 turns when I got it but after putting the carbs together I set them back to 3.  I have the same issue where the idle is hanging a bit at 2,000 rpm's. It is a canadian bike with stock 125 main jets and 40 pilots.  Would turning them out farther help?

those with hanging idles, you can also check for vacuum leaks, tight valves, out of sync carbs, and adjust the float heights. i found those are all good things to do, and will probably aid in your cause =P

good luck
rustbucket on wheels that go vroom vroom and stuff.
