Mounting a GPS on the gs500F is much easier than I thought it would be.  The fairing braces are a perfect spot to attach RAM mounting hardware.  I haven't wired this up yet, for now I'll just use the internal battery, but eventually I'm going to hook up a cigarette lighter socket under the fairing so I can plug this in.  But I want to use that for charging my phone in my tank bag, so I might just hardwire this up.

RAM mounts are hard to beat.

The one thing I've learned about having a GPS on the bike is this: Look occasionally, but don't touch while in motion.

look only when absolutely necessary, listen for directions instead  :thumb:

can you reach it without wrecking?

I have the same set up, and you just have to lean forward to touch it.

crap, I think I like it there better than where I have it now (on the bars) .. but the Ram mount I am using makes it hard to get the cable on and off. It might be even harder further forward.

What I usually do is when I'm putting the GPS in to the mount I hook the cable up then clip it in and when I'm taking it out I unclip it then unplug it.

If you have an F, IMHO the perfect GPS mounting spot is the unused mirror hole on the clutch lever mount.

I just finished installing a Stebel Nautilus horn and while I was running the wires for it, I ran an extra 14 gauge wire for accessories, starting with the GPS.
