Run the calcs with a bigger rear sprocket as well -- 42/45.  You'd probably only get to about 80

I was looking for a 17 tooth front sprocket (to go with my 38 tooth rear), but apparently, nobody makes them for an 89.  I see that they are made for the newer models (I think 94+).  Does anybody know the difference between the models?  The only difference I can see is that it looks like the newer models have a flange where the splines are.  Would I be able to just grind off the flange and make it fit my model?

Sprocket Specialists  makes a 17T front sprocket without the hub to fit 89-93 GS500E.

I used their 504-15 on my 97 even though the 97 came with a sprocket with a hub.

JT also shows both 17T and 18T sprockets for 89-93 GSs.

Well, I didn't realize that Sprocket Specialists made from sprockets...  I just ordered the rears from them (they happen to be located a half hour away from me.

The JT says that they make them, but nobody has them in the US market.  I emiled the company, and they said that they don't supply the US market with them, but the european market does.  They would order one for me, but I would be paying shipping from Europe...  I'll try sprocket specialists.  Thanks.

Called Sprocket Specialties...  They don't build them on premises, and they are out of stock.  They said it might be 6 weeks!!! :icon_eek:

JT Sprockets is really bad a responding to my emails too.  I ave to send 2 or three emails before they respond.  This is much more difficult than I had expected it to be.
